A+ Orthopaedic and Sports Med centre, Delhi and The Sports Medicine Unit at Sir Ganga Ram Hospitals conducted the “19th Sports Medicine and Arthroscopy Workshop” in association with the Indian Arthroscopy Society and Indian Federation of Sports Medicine on this Sunday, 19th of March 2023. The meeting was well attended by over 130 delegates and 22 faculty members. The workshop In association with MediSage was virtually made accessible to the medical professionals who could not attend the workshop physically. The workshop that took place in Delhi, had great experts in the field of sports medicine who came together and discussed the “All around ACL–recent advancements”, with a focus on the latest advancements in ACL reconstruction.

The Organising Chairman, Prof. (Dr.) Prateek Kr. Gupta, Head of the Orthopaedic Sports Medicine unit of Sir Ganga Ram Hospital quoted that “ACL reconstruction workshops provided a valuable opportunity for medical professionals to enhance their knowledge and skills in performing ACL reconstruction surgeries”. For the ones who could not physically attend the session as the registration spots got filled in very quickly, MediSage provided access for virtual viewership. While the physical footfall at the workshop was great, the virtual platform allowed the conference sessions to reach the last mile doctor and gain from the expertise of the faculty. The surgical repair of ACL has been the standard treatment for patients, but with the advancements in technology and scientific research, new management strategies are constantly evolving.

This workshop offered a combination of didactic lectures and live surgeries, allowing attendees to gain a thorough understanding of the procedure and its techniques. This was followed by 3 hands-on skill stations where the delegates could practise and further their skills in this field. As ACL injuries are common among athletes and can have a significant impact on their athletic careers, it is crucial that medical professionals stay up-to-date with the latest advancements and techniques in ACL reconstruction.

The minimalistic and biological approach of ‘All inside ACL reconstruction’, ortho biologics, Acute repair of ACL tear and internal bracing and graft choices like Quadricep tendon, BTB and Peroneal graft for revisions were the highlights of the session.
